Hill Climb News

After consultation with the rest of the club's officials we have decided to cancel Saturday's hill climb event.  The road surface on Wash Hill is generally bad and in places very broken and dangerous. This coupled with the forecast rain over the next couple of days means that the leaves are likely to be very slippery. Therefore, the event has been cancelled on safety grounds.

Club Event, Saturday 7 September 2019

With conditions which appeared to be conducive to time trialling, it was disappointing that officials outnumbered riders by a ratio of 5 to 1 for this morning's event. Michelle was the only rider finishing:

Club Event, Saturday 3 August 2019

Another dry morning with little wind at the start. However once on the A4 it was apparent that a strong south east wind helped riders to the turn. The return however was another matter. Again Michelle was the only Road Club rider finishing with 25:47 which means she has an unassailable lead in the Club points trophy race. The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 6 July 2019

With the usual timekeeper away enjoying a very wet holiday in Scotland, Anona was persuaded to hold the watch for the latest of the Club's events at Maidenhead Thicket. In spite of a warm docile morning only three riders faced the timekeeper. Michelle was the only SBRC rider, finishing in 25:31. The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 1 June 2019

The first day of official summer lived up to its name by providing very warm weather with, at least at the start, very little wind. The riders at the start were lulled into a false sense of here was a perfect day only to find that once on the A4 there was in fact a moderate wind which hindered them to the turn. Richard Willcox of the Bath RC was the fastest in 25.27 closely followed by Michelle Ayres with 25.59. Making a return to time trialling was John Hoskins of the Westerley RC who was taking time out from his committee duties on the CTT and VTTA. The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 4 May 2019

Probably because of the threat of traffic lights on the Maidenhead Thicket H10/2, there was only a meagre turnout for the latest of the Club’s events on the course. Dry but windy conditions faced the three riders as the traffic lights had been removed for the holiday weekend. The fastest rider was Russ Danckert from the Army CU in a time of 21.52. The full result follows:

Club Event, Saturday 6 April 2019

The first of this season’s club event was run in dreary cloudy conditions with a nagging cold easterly wind. Despite this all the times were very respectable with Tristan Davenne of the Newbury Road Club the fastest rider in 22.37. Michelle Ayres proved fastest of the Club's riders in 26.56 closely followed by Joy Payne with 27.12. Ironically, the clouds parted briefly after the event and the temperature shot up at least 2 degrees. The full result is as follows:
