Club Event, Saturday 1 June 2019

The first day of official summer lived up to its name by providing very warm weather with, at least at the start, very little wind. The riders at the start were lulled into a false sense of here was a perfect day only to find that once on the A4 there was in fact a moderate wind which hindered them to the turn. Richard Willcox of the Bath RC was the fastest in 25.27 closely followed by Michelle Ayres with 25.59. Making a return to time trialling was John Hoskins of the Westerley RC who was taking time out from his committee duties on the CTT and VTTA. The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 4 May 2019

Probably because of the threat of traffic lights on the Maidenhead Thicket H10/2, there was only a meagre turnout for the latest of the Club’s events on the course. Dry but windy conditions faced the three riders as the traffic lights had been removed for the holiday weekend. The fastest rider was Russ Danckert from the Army CU in a time of 21.52. Club Event, Saturday 6 April 2019

The first of this season’s club event was run in dreary cloudy conditions with a nagging cold easterly wind. Despite this all the times were very respectable with Tristan Davenne of the Newbury Road Club the fastest rider in 22.37. Michelle Ayres proved fastest of the Club's riders in 26.56 closely followed by Joy Payne with 27.12. Ironically, the clouds parted briefly after the event and the temperature shot up at least 2 degrees. The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 3 November 2018

Wash Hill at Wooburn Green was once again the venue for the Club’s hill climb, the traditional season closer. On a dry, seasonable warm morning, only two members were brave enough to tackle the anti-gravity event. A minor panic by the finish timekeeper when, due to his unnatural strength, his rear wheel pulled over while ascending the hill, luckily failed to affect the result as he wasn’t caught by the first rider. Club Event, Saturday 1 September 2018

As 1st September is the start of the meteorological autumn, it was not surprising that the day dawned bright but a little chilly. Once again traffic lights appeared on the course for the third time this season, which impeded the riders to varying degrees. With holidays still in vogue Harj was the only Road Club rider (he was really quite thankful for the short rest while the traffic lights were on red!) The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 4 August 2018

The roadworks bug bit yet again for the latest of our club events at Maidenhead Thicket. Given that there were temporary traffic lights in both directions at Burchetts Green roundabout, riders recorded relatively good times. Which left them wondering what they would have clocked had there been no road works! The full result is as follows:

Club Event, Saturday 7 July 2018

With the latest heat wave well under way the club event held at Maidenhead was a sunny and very warm affair. Whilst the riders could choose to remain in the shade until they were called to the start, spare a thought for the time keeper and pusher off who had to suffer the solar onslaught both at the start and finish. There was a fair amount of traffic on the A4 today, but that didn't stop Michelle Ayres setting a season’s best time of 26.46.
